Fire retardant paint for wooden structures PROMADUR

How it works: When subject to fire or high temperature the coating foams and creates a layer of coal, which corresponds to a class of reaction to fire A1, that is why the wooden construction will be barriered and protected from ignition.

Paint: the paint PROMADUR for wooden constructions: white matte colour or, at will, colourless, or in different tone.

PROMADUR protective varnish: colourless or, at will, in different tone.

Coating thickness: the paint PROMADUR for wooden constructions: approximately 1, 2 g/cm³.

• Fire-resistant paint PROMADUR (for wooden constructions): ≥ 500 g/m²,
• Corresponds: thickness of a wet layer: 425 µm, thickness of a dry layer: 300 µm,
• PROMADUR protective varnish: 50 g/m².

Application: with a roller, a brush or a spray. Mix well before application. The temperature of the room should not be lower than 10ºC.

The main surface: it is recommended to test the paint on the surface before application. There shouldn't be old paint, dust, dirt, oil, or wax on it. Badly absorbing wooden surfaces should be smoothed and cleared.

Drying: The time of drying depends on the type of a wooden surface, the temperature, the density of paint application and the air humidity. Average time of one layer drying is usually 6 hours, if the room temperature is +20ºC and the relative air humidity is 65%. Low temperature and high air humidity increases the drying time.

Place of paint storage:In a dry, warm room - 6 months, after that the paint quality should be checked.

The advantages of PROMADUR paint:

• The dispersion does not contain solvents;
• The form and thickness of a wooden construction does not change;
• The speed of burning of wooden constructions decreases considerably.

General instructions: not burning - A1, A2 and B class – slow-burning materials. Wood and standard timber belongs to combustible building materials of C class. But with the paint PROMADUR the coated wooden constructions will belong to the slow-burning materials class Bs1, d0. During the fire the paint turns into a firm, dense layer of foam, which barriers and protects wooden constructions. The paint can not be used in external works and in rooms with increased air humidity. It is necessary to follow the general instructions. The paint PROMADUR for wooden constructions is not intended for metal surfaces.

The paint PROMADUR is applied to:

• Wooden constructions (thickness ≥ 12 mm),
• Plywood (thickness ≥ 12 mm), also for plates from plywood if warm glue is used,
• For plates from plywood (thickness ≥ 12 mm).

The paint should be applied to all open parts of a construction.

It should not be used with wooden parts which wear out very quickly, for example, with a wooden floor.

The paint or varnish PROMADUR application is different from standard varnishing. You should apply every layer very thoroughly. It is importante not to apply less paints, than it is indicated. You should consider the loss of paint in case you use a spray.

The protective varnish PROMADUR is applied in the following cases: when appearance of a construction is important, in case of increased air humidity, or to simplify the process of cleaning of wooden details.

The protective varnish PROMADUR is applied to a completely dry paint coating.

If there is a requirement to use wooden details which correspond to the specified class of fire resistance 120, we recommend to pay attention to Promat 462.10.
In this case the paint is intended for wooden constructions which consist of wood boards (thickness ≥ 20 mm) and lining (thickness ≥ 50 mm).

Type of timber according to the size of cutting:

Lining – a sawn wooden product, thickness and width are less than 75 mm.

Wood board – a sawn wooden product, thickness is less than 38 mm, width – it is more than 75 mm.

Strip of board – a sawn wooden product, thickness is more than 38 mm, width – it is more than 75 mm. The difference between thickness and width is usually more than 25 mm. Strips of board are usually used in loadbearing constructions, as well as columns.

Square logs – sawn wooden products, with thickness of 75 mm or more, width is equal to the thickness or differs for less than 25 mm.
